Our History
Steve Boucher is a lifelong musician, a dedicated singer-songwriter, and the proud owner of Mid Atlantic Guitars. With over 30 years of experience in the music industry, Steve has performed across the country at corporate and private events, as well as select public venues. His passion for music is evident in every performance, where he brings the hits of yesterday and today to life, along with his own original songs.
Steve has released two EPs, Living and Gone Coastal, both available on all major streaming platforms. Over the years, he has shared the stage with some of the most renowned folk singer-songwriters and authors, including David LaMotte (September Me) from Black Mountain, NC, and Dave Gunning (Girl Like You) from Nova Scotia. His journey has taken him to some of the most respected listening rooms across the country, including The Word Barn, 49 West, Edith May’s Paradise, The 5 Spot, and The Listening Booth.
His music has also gained recognition on television and radio. Steve was featured on Delmarva Life (WBOC TV, Salisbury, Maryland), where he shared his original songs, and on Coast Life (WRDE-TV, Milton, Delaware), where he spoke about his musical journey and his songs dedicated to the Delmarva Coast. He has also been a featured guest on Ocean 98.1 FM WOCM-FM out of Ocean City, Maryland, and on the podcast Dev in the Details.
The Story Behind Mid Atlantic Guitars
Steve’s journey with Mid Atlantic Guitars started with a search for something different—something beyond the standard guitar brands. He wanted an instrument that would truly enhance his playing experience. His research led him to boutique guitar brands, specifically Canadian builders, and he discovered a common thread among them: Adirondack Red Spruce tops. One brand stood out—Boucher Guitars, the only company exclusively using Adirondack Tops, known for their harmonic richness and balance.
Determined to own one of these guitars, Steve tracked down a dealer in Toronto, Canada, and made his first purchase. Interestingly, despite sharing the same last name as the brand, Steve has no relation to Boucher Guitars. However, his love for their craftsmanship quickly grew, leading him to form a friendship with the Boucher Guitar team. He eventually became one of Boucher’s Artists and expanded his collection with several models, including the SG-52-I, SG-42-MV, LE-SG-141, and GR-SG-161-T.
In Nov 2023, Steve visited Boucher Guitars in Quebec, Canada, where he had the opportunity to witness the meticulous craftsmanship firsthand. This experience deepened his admiration for the brand. After another trip to a West Coast Boucher dealer, he started considering becoming a dealer himself, recognizing a gap in the U.S. market that needed to be filled.
By March 2024, Mid Atlantic Guitars was officially launched as an online retailer, serving musicians in the Mid Atlantic region, including New York City, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Washington, D.C., and Maryland. The response has been overwhelmingly positive, and Mid Atlantic Guitars continues to grow, helping musicians find high-quality boutique acoustic guitars that meet their artistic and performance needs.
Mid Atlantic Guitars: A Commitment to Quality and Community
Mid Atlantic Guitars isn’t just an online retailer—it’s a passion-driven business dedicated to serving musicians with exceptional acoustic guitars. While there is no physical storefront, Steve is always available by appointment in the Delaware area or via phone and video consultations to help musicians find their perfect instrument.
As part of its commitment to the music community, Mid Atlantic Guitars actively participates in major guitar shows throughout the Mid Atlantic region. Each March, the company is an annual exhibitor at the Mid Atlantic Guitar Show in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, and in the fall, it takes part in the Philadelphia Great American Guitar Show. In August 2024, Steve attended Chicago’s Fretboard Summit alongside Boucher Guitars, where prominent YouTube influencers Tony Polecastro (Acoustic Life) and JP Cormier (String Theory) visited the Boucher exhibit.
